OTTC Spring Team Triathlons - Rumpass at Bumpass (April 17 & 18)

Join us for the first OTTC team triathlon weekend of the year for both the Rumpass in Bumpass Olympic (April 17) and Sprint (April 18) distance triathlons. We have chosen triathlons that are beginner friendly as our second "official" team event. We encourage all OTTC members - newbies, beginners, intermediate, and advanced - to sign up for this triathlon. The Rumpass in Bumpass is at the same site as the Giant Acorn Sprint Triathlon, our first team event where 10 OTTC members participated last fall. We hope more will participate this spring. The races takes place at Lake Anna Beach Marina and consists of a 750 meter lake swim (calm water), fairly flat 12 mile bike course, and gently rolling 5 K run. The Olympic distance is a 1500 meter swim, the bike is two laps of the sprint bike course (24 miles), and two laps of the sprint run course (10K). These are early season triathlons, so temperatures will be quite agreeable and the water temperature will be cool enough to wear wetsuits (a plus for those of you not comfortable with swimming).

We would like this to be as much a social event as an athletic event. We plan on setting up the team tent and banner for both races. It will be a great opportunity for first timers to get acquainted with triathlon. You will have more experienced team members on hand for guidance and questions. Come on out and support your teammates and have a great time.

Check out the following site for more details:

Sprint: http://www.setupevent...

Olympic: http://www.setupevent...

Sign up soon, as there is limited space. This race fills up before race day. And the sooner you sign-up the cheaper the entry fee. The Virginia Triathlon Series and Setup Events tend to put on well run events. All levels of experience race in their events from the begginner to the elite. They provide great race support and after race meals.

I'm looking to rent a house in the area and will post the details soon. If you're interest in staying the house please let me know asap.

    Hey OTTCers,

I found a house near the start in Mineral, VA. The rent is 500 for the weekend, Fri - Sun. I will prepare a pasta dinner Fri and Sat night for the group. Please let me know if you are interested and can commit to staying at the house. It's a 3 br 4 ba. Even if you're not planning on staying at the house please let me know if you'd like to stop by for the pasta dinner(s).

    Cheers,

    Darryel

What a great time. Thanks to everyone for coming out and competing and then cheering. The stay at the house was an awesome time. We adopted the "Tri Bomb" as the official OTTC post race celebratory beverage. It consists of half a pint of Murhpey's or Guinness and one scoop of vanilla ice cream. David Tomblin placed 2nd in his division, congrats David, oh and that's after doing the Olympic distance race the day before. Also, a very big congratulations to Lisa, Rob, Meaghan and Lauren for completing their first Olympic distance race. For Lisa, this was her first tri ever. Way to go girl! To Eric, Lindsey, Adam, Carrie, Katherine, Drew, Will and Tuffy for kicking butt on the sprint today. Many of which finished their first tri and faster than their goal. The stay at the house was awesome. A big thanks to Deb, my wife, for hooking us up with the fab food. Good times had by all. I can't wait for the next tri. Cheers, Darryel
