Fort Washington National Park (map)
"Long" is a relative term - 1 hour, 30 miles in this instance.
I'm trying to incorporate hills on my longer runs this season so I'm running in my neighborhood, Fort Washington, MD, a 15 minute drive from Old Town. If it's not too muddy, I may end up hitting some trails.
If you want to discover some scenic running along the potomac and/or piscataway creek, and starting in Ft. Wash. Nat'l park, I'd LOVE the company!
Along with whatever other gear you'll want, bring trail shoes - just in case - if you have them, plus a water bottle or hydration belt, and a source of nutrition (gels, etc.).
Start/end point - Fort Washington National Park. Directions: From I-95/495 take exit 3, Indian Head Higway South/MD 210. Travel about 4 miles to Fort Washington Road, turn right. The park is located at the end of the road (through neighorhoods). Stay to right after passing the entry gate, then park in the first lot. Link: http://www.nps.gov/FO...
Update - Don't bother bringing trail shoes since the trails are still covered in snow.
Ryan, you're a funny man. (Bummer you won't be making it. It would be great to catch up!)
Yeah Big Bertha, really. 30 miles. In 1 hour! (Seriously, THANK YOU for catching it!) To clarify for all, it will be a one hour, thirty minute (1:30) run. :-)
